African Preaching Seminars

African Preaching Seminars

One of the crying needs of the day is for those called as pastors and preachers to be better equipped in proclaiming the gospel to the lost and teaching the Word of God to His people. Many pastors feel a need to be better equipped to preach the Word. They may have been to a theological seminary or Bible college and they may have been well instructed in doctrine, but they sense that something is lacking when it comes to being able fervently, passionately and compassionately to preach the Word of God so as to win the hearts, souls and minds of the people to whom they have been called to preach.

Furthermore there is a lack of church planters and full-time evangelists. Since not much attention may be given to this vital area of gospel ministry in Bible colleges, there is the need to train evangelists and church planters in preaching the gospel and establishing biblically grounded churches.  To this end we believe there is a critical need to establish preaching seminars aimed at equipping current and prospective pastors, evangelists and church planters. For this reason we are launching what will be called the African Preaching Seminars.

The Goal of these Seminars

01.

To challenge preachers in the area of personal godliness and piety,
which is vital for the anointing of the Spirit upon their ministry

02.

To ground preachers in the basic fundamentals of biblically good,
sound and compelling preaching

03.

To deepen and expand their skills in preaching the Word of God
for different contexts and to different kinds of people

04.

To equip church planters and evangelists with the practical skills necessary
in itinerant evangelistic preaching as well as church planting

05.

To challenge preachers in areas of preaching that they may not
be too familiar with, such as apologetic preaching

How will the training take place?

The training will take place over three years. In each of those three years there will be one  week of intensive training held in each quarter of the year. Each week will cover a particular aspect related to preaching such as the call and personal piety of the preacher, the task of rightly dividing the Word of God or hermeneutics and the skill of rightly preaching the Word of God or homiletics. Other modules will follow in each of the following two years, making a total of nine individual weeks of training. Each week of training will consist of lectures as well as practical workshops, discussion and feedback sessions. These modules will be recognised for credit by Mukhanyo Theological College (MTC) and can contribute towards the studying of an accredited qualification through MTC.
